Audio

An NPR junkie, I’m both an avid consumer and producer of audio news. My pieces have aired on NPR-affiliates, independent radio stations, and WTBU. I’m also an avid (and award-winning) podcaster. You can find some of my sample work, below. COVID-19 has prevented volunteers from the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston from mentoring the…

Video

For as long as I can remember, I’ve enjoyed telling people’s stories in an engaging manner, particularly through video! Whether producing documentaries about the polluted Malden river and one police officer’s determination to rehabilitate the area and, in the process, build community, or telling the story of independent bookstores in the pandemic, any story I…

When the right words are connected on a page, it makes the difference between the ordinary and extraordinary. A self-proclaimed word nerd, I take pride in telling stories about people and the places and issues that matter most to them and their communities. Additional on-camera work (short films)

Exercising one’s creativity — whether in the form of creative writing, singing, dancing, or acting — has the added benefit of helping to hone communications skills and techniques. It’s also a lot of fun! Below, you’ll find some recent work that showcases my on-camera presence in a different light.

About Me

Hi, I’m Valerie. Previously a marketing and communications executive, I decided to follow my passion for telling people’s stories and bringing important information to light by pursuing a master’s in Journalism. With extensive experience working at what US News & World Report ranked as the #1 Hospital in the country and #1 medical school, I’m especially passionate about covering health and science news, as well as issues affecting our most vulnerable populations. When I’m not chasing a story, I’m on the hunt for the best almond and chocolate croissants in Boston and beyond, writing or reading at a coffee shop, hiking, or hosting friends and family for brunch.
